Friday, March 19, 2010, Ottawa – United Way Ottawa is pleased to welcome a new addition to its senior management team. Diane Bilodeau had assumed the role of Vice President, Community Services where she will be responsible for providing leadership in the development of results-based community development plans and initiatives, and overseeing the investment and stewardship of resources in community initiatives and frontline programs.
“The evolution of United Way’s work in our community presents many opportunities and challenges for the organization,” said Bilodeau. “I look forward to working with the remarkable team of volunteers, staff and partners on initiatives and programs that will bring positive change to many lives and build a stronger community for all.”
Bilodeau has more than 20 years’ experience in senior roles in the Caisses Populaires and Credit Union systems. Most recently, she assumed leadership of Francofonds, a community foundation dedicated to promoting the development of Manitoba’s French-speaking community by supporting a wide range of community and culturally-based francophone projects and organizations. Under her leadership, Francofonds increased its donation support, its presence in the community, and its engagement of new donors and partnerships.
“Diane will be a tremendous asset to our United Way team,” said Michael Allen, President and CEO, United Way Ottawa. “We’re fortunate to have her on board to help us engage all sectors of the community in the work we do – from community agencies and frontline service providers to government and business leaders. Her experience and leadership will be crucial in bringing our strategies around results-based initiatives to fruition.”
Actively involved in her community, Bilodeau has lent her expertise and time to the Board of Directors for Centre Taché and Foyer Valade (long-term care facilities), Festival du Voyageur (the largest winter festival in Western Canada) and Pluri-Elles (a non-profit organization serving the needs of women and families in Manitoba). Bilodeau, who recently moved from Manitoba to Ottawa, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and certification as a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Planner.
