United Way Ottawa announces final 2007 Community Campaign results of $29,840,157

Thursday, May 15, 2008, Ottawa – This afternoon, United Way Ottawa announced the final results for the 2007 Community Campaign at its Annual General Meeting. A record-breaking $29,840,157 was raised thanks to outstanding leadership, dedicated volunteers, and the generous support of the community. The 2007 Community Campaign goal was $29.7 million.

Number reveal

“We achieved great success in 2007 and that is a testament to the enthusiasm and generosity of our staff, volunteers and donors,” said Michael Allen, President and CEO, United Way/Centraide. “Our 2007 Campaign Chair, Wayne Wouters, demonstrated stellar leadership during the campaign and he is a great example of this city’s dedicated and committed public service.”

“It was a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a community campaign of this scope,” said Wayne Wouters, Secretary of Treasury Board of Canada and 2007 Community Campaign Chair. “I’m originally from Saskatchewan and after becoming involved with United Way/Centraide’s campaign, for the first time, I felt like Ottawa was my home.”

United Way/Centraide Ottawa is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The 2008 Community Campaign will begin in September. Sal Iacono, Senior Vice-President of Bell’s Enterprise Group, is this year’s Campaign Chair.
