75,000 donors in 75 hours - United Way Ottawa launches community-wide challenge

November, 26, 2008, Ottawa -United Way/Centraide Ottawa launched a community-wide challenge this morning to get 75,000 donors in 75 hours.  The challenge, 75+75 = $31 million, kicked off at 6:00 a.m. this morning and runs until 9:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29.

"This challenge is about giving our community the chance to be part of something positive, something big," says Sal Iacono, 2008 Campaign Chair.  "More and more lately, we're hearing stories about economic challenges and the tough times ahead.  It's important that people know that they can make a difference and that every dollar donated to United Way/Centraide counts."

75+75 = $31 million marks 75 years of United Way/Centraide giving back to the community with the help of thousands of donors and partners, and will play an important role in the final stretch of the 2008 Campaign helping to meet the $31 million goal.  Results from this year's campaign will be announced on December 2.

Donations can be made online at www.unitedwayottawa.ca or by calling 613-228-6767.
