Our Mission

To bring people and resources together to build a strong, healthy, safe community for all.

In 2007, more than 185 programs, services and initiatives received support from United Way/Centraide, thanks to the donations and volunteer work of more than 100 community leaders who sit on our six impact councils and 13 special initiatives, along with the countless volunteers who tirelessly find the resources to make our community better.

Our Promise

To invest resources where they are needed the most and where they willl have the greatest impact.

In 2007, we invested $14.9 million in support of special initiatives and aboriginal programs, as well as those programs, services and initiatives directed to our six impact areas: children and youth, immigrants and new Canadians, seniors, people with disabilities, individuals and families in need and crisis, and agency, neighbourhood and community capacity.

A legacy of giving, sharing and contributing

For 75 years, United Way/Centraide Ottawa has been improving the lives of the people who work and live in Ottawa —contributing to the community's strength, health and safety.

The power of community

Our community is measurably better as a result of the investments we make and our work with others. By bringing people together from all parts of our community to identify, develop and provide solutions to community issues and critical problems, we ensure that the donations we receive go where they are needed the most and where they will have the greatest impact.

More than 100 valued and committed volunteers sit on our Board of Directors, Community Services Cabinet, Community Impact Councils, Next Generation Cabinet, Youth Action Panel and Campaign Cabinet. Individually and collectively, these volunteers:

• build and support a network of high-priority, results-oriented community services
• offer leadership in bringing the community together
• invest resources and charitable funds in partnership with the community
• inform and engage community stakeholders
