Direct Mail Assistant
Department: Strategic Giving Systems
Purpose of Volunteer Position:
Supporting and assisting the Manager of Direct Response by helping enhance donor loyalty and support.
Position Responsibilities:
With United Way Ottawa staff guidance and support complete the following tasks:
- Make thank you phone calls to donors
- Handwrite thank you notes to donors
- Prepare 500-750 letters for mailing by stuffing envelopes and applying postage
- Postal mailing, sorting, filing and organizing
- Light office duties as needed
Time Commitment:
- 2-4 hours every 2 weeks from January to August during business hours (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
- 2-4 hours every week from September to December during business hours (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
- Available for a one-hour organizational orientation session
Position Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma
Experience:
- Experience preparing large mailings would be an asset
- Experience making telephone calls to the public
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Computer skills are an asset
- Bilingual in both official languages is an asset
