MANAGER, CAPACITY BUILDING

Position Status : Permanent, full-time

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Capacity Building, this position works to strengthen the capacity of United Way Ottawa (UWO), non-profit agencies and priority neighbourhoods within the City of Ottawa. Key responsibilities include managing neighbourhood strengthening program and working with partner agencies and residents through a community engagement process in neighbourhoods prioritized by residents and service delivery partners.  This position requires knowledge and experience of community engagement and capacity building needs, excellent project and relationship management skills, the ability to identify new capacity building opportunities for residents and front-line staff of partner agencies, and the ability to work with corporate sponsors, partner organizations, community agencies, and residents around community priorities and needs.

Qualifications:

  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • 3 years experience in community development, project management, including budgets
  • Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships
  • Advanced community development, project management and time management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships
  • Ability to think strategically and implement project ideas
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple partners on various projects
  • Effective analytical, writing and communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, training, negociation, facilitation skills
  • Experience in organizing events
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the non-profit sector and capacity to work with private sector
  • Problem solving and sound judgment
  • Tact, diplomacy and ability to convene stakeholders around common outcome
  • Bilingualism in both official languages
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
